Rico Navarro, a columnist and key figure in the Cebu sports scene, passed away Tuesday at the age of 53 due to a heart attack.
The Cebu sports community mourned the loss of Navarro, who wore different hats mainly as athletic director of Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu and Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas regional director for Central Visayas.
Navarro is also a fixture in Cebu sports media as a columnist for The Freeman and had asked a few questions during the recent session of the Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum hours before his passing.
He also served as a ring announcer in several Pinoy Pride editions of the Cebu-based ALA Boxing Promotions.
