2 suspected gunrunners killed in Rizal

Police killed two suspected gunrunners during an entrapment operation in Pililia, Rizal before dawn Wednesday.

One of the slain suspects was identified as Jake Anden. His companion remains unidentified.

Police Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo, director of the Philippine National Police-Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG), said they were informed of the illegal activities of Anden, ranging from selling drugs, robbery, and kidnapping.

An AKG operative asked a police asset to arrange the purchase of .45 caliber pistols for P30,000 each from the suspects.

Police conducted a buy-bust operation in Sitio Kawayan in Barangay Halayhayin at around 3 a.m.

However, the suspects opened fire when police announced their arrest, killing Anden and his companion.

Estomo said they are now conducting follow-up operation against the leader of the group, a certain "Ryan dela Cruz," who is wanted for kidnapping.

Seized from the suspects were five .45 caliber pistols, a carnapped motorcycle, and the marked money.
