P167.2-million drug haul in 3 days of police operations in Central Visayas

CEBU CITY – Illegal drugs worth P167.2 million were seized in three days of simultaneous police operations in Central Visayas.

Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7) Director Brig. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferro said the region-wide police operations were held from October 21 to October 23, and these yielded 25,584 grams of shabu.

“The simultaneous anti-criminality law enforcement operation (SACLEO) focuses on illegal drugs, illegal gambling, loose firearms, and accounting of wanted persons,” said Ferro.

Ferro added that 793 drug personalities, including high-value individuals at regional levels, were arrested in the series of operations.

One of those arrested was a former university instructor, who yielded 22 kilos of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P150 million.

Police also conducted 1,568 operations against loose firearms.

“A total of 250 firearms, seized and surrendered, were recovered, said Ferro.

Ferro said similar operations will be conducted in the coming days.
