Ex-Pogo employee involved in gun-running, drug-peddling arrested in Makati

A male Chinese national, who sent via courier service a package that turned up containing a gun and supposed shabu, was apprehended with more shabu, glass bongs with pipes, marijuana leaves, another gun and pieces of ammunition in his possession in Makati City on Tuesday (October 27).

Captain Judge Rowe Donato, Makati Police Substation 6 commander,  identified the suspect as Su Jia Shun, a former Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) employee.

Around 12 p.m., a motorcycle rider went to the police and reported that he was asked to deliver a suspicious-looking package to another Chinese in Pasay City.

Pasay Police Intelligence Unit chief Capt. Deni Pedrozo said the driver brought the package to authorities instead.

"The driver opened the package because he found it suspicious, and he saw a gun and shabu. I coordinated this immediately to the Makati Police in order to conduct a follow-up operation," Pedrozo said.

At 2 p.m., Makati Police and Pasay Police proceeded to a condominium unit of Su in Barangay Poblacion.

Major Tyrone Valenzona, Makati Police Assistant Chief of Police for Operations (ACOPO), said the suspect was supplying shabu to POGO employees.

"Apparently, he was a POGO worker who lost his job," he said.
"Inside his unit, we found empty tea bags and other resealable plastic bags. There were also ammunition inside the tea bags.

"He told our translator that he's a former POGO worker," he added.
Donato said the supposed shabu they seized has a street value of around P100, 000.

The gun they seized, on the other hand, was a loaded caliber .45 pistol.
