HP, one of the leading computer and printer brands globally, has maintained a positive outlook in the Philippines following strong demand due to work from home arrangements even as it strengthened its services to help in the students' remote learning program of the Department of Education.
In an email interview, Christian Edmond Reyes, HPI Inc. Managing Director, said the company just delivered a better than expected quarter globally owing to PC and print now being more essential tools than ever for consumer and business success in this current environment.
In the Philippines specifically, Reyes said, “We maintain a positive outlook of a steady recovery and robust growth following work and learning from home trends despite retracted capabilities at traditional points of access due to the various quarantines.”
“We are very optimistic of the business and are confident in addressing continued demand in essential services that we support including public services, healthcare and BPO,” he said.
As a PC brand, Reyes said that according to IDC data, HP accounts for 15.7 percent locally on quarter on quarter growth. The company has also retained its strength in the commercial segment with 27.2 percent market share in the Philippines.
Similarly, Reyes also see a positive trend in the print business, specifically in its continuous ink supply system (CISS) printers with +8.4 percent growing share and even stronger demand for Ink Tanks.
“These results came from a spike in demand for work from home (WFH) and learn from home (LFH) devices and services in the Philippines as well as a surge of demand from the BPO segment as office workers moved to remote working environments during this period of time,” said Reyes.
Reyes said that HP continued to provide a range of high-performing and secure PC and print innovation and services designed to meet the current needs and demands of the new normal.
HP has strengthened its services along with the big shift in remote learning and greater need for home and educational printing, especially with the lack of access to a full digital set-up. "Through printing, learning modules can be reproduced and distributed to thousands of students across the country,” he said.
This is because more than its commitment to deliver the best products and services, Reyes said HP has a strong advocacy of creating positive impacts to society through continuous efforts in addressing needs in educational and environmental sectors. Just as how we recognize that every nation and business’s success is highly dependent on one factor, its people. “This is why we focus on education and infrastructure investments to skill workers for the future. This upskilling for a digital future is not just an upgrade to industries, but is a core requirement for business sustainability as we help our partners and the Philippines be ready and keep up with the changing times,” he added.
Since its inception in the Philippines in 1994, Reyes said HP has been delivering PC and print innovation to customers and partners to help them reinvent for business success.
With stronger demands for faster internet connectivity, more efficient IT systems and solutions, and a focus on achieving work-life balance while putting family first, Reyes said technology plays a vital role to enable Filipinos to seamlessly switch between their personal and work personas more than ever before, HP’s cutting-edge mobility, security, connectivity and collaboration capabilities can greatly contribute, empowering them to succeed in life and work.
HP boasts of its innovative products that are suited for learning and for business opportunities. These include the HP Pavilion x360, HP Envy x360, HP Laptop 14s and 15s, as well as HP All-in-One Desktops, monitors, accessories, pre-bundled with Microsoft Office Home & Student perpetual license. Care packs and after sales support is provided as well. For daily home and work printing needs, the company offers the HP Smart Tank Series, HP OfficeJet Pro Series and the HP Laser Series. These devices are provided with enhanced customer care from online to on-site support.
In addition, digitalization is fueling demand. From the small scale workforce and up to the enterprise, Reyes expects that digitalization is spurring a transformation of the way people work and sustain their operations and PC and print innovation and capabilities lie at the heart of that transformation.
“Digitalization has unlocked new opportunities and new ways for printing which HP embraced long before with the introduction of various mobile connectivity capabilities and tools like the HP Smart App. This feature, available on select HP printers, allows users to print, scan, check ink levels and toner supplies and set up their printers on a wireless network from their smartphones, tablet or laptop devices,” he added.
Apart from this, he said, HP is very much committed in reinventing the way enterprises are printing with security features for business being integrated into its innovation, offering added value in line with demand for remote connectivity and safe and secure print systems.
During this pandemic, Reyes said, HP has provided over P2 million in monetary donations (from HP Foundation) as well as donations of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other medical supplies to hospitals, businesses and local communities.
HP also offers a variety of relief initiatives aimed at arming its global channel partner community to effectively navigate the operational and financial challenges associated with COVID-19. These include HP Integrated Financial Solutions for end-customers, free virtual cybersecurity support, activating HP University for digital learning and live 24/7 customer support to address heightened demand.
