A double treat on its 30th Anniversary

Honda continues to offer Filipinos better ways to move ahead of any situation with improvements to its two most-popular models, the City and CR-V.
Unveiled during a virtual event streamed on Honda Cars Philippines Inc.’s (HCPI) official Facebook and YouTube pages, the two new models assert its 2030 vision of leading the advancement of mobility and enabling people around the world to improve their daily lives.
Honda City

First introduced in 1996, the Honda City has sold over 131,000 units since. No on its 5th generation, the all-new City features a sleek new design, with a longer, wider, and lower body.
It draws attention with its new façade, integrating the latest evolution of its solid wing deisgn language. It sports LED daytime running lights and LED tail lamps across all variants. Its profile, in turn, is inspired a Katana blade in motion.

The City’s interior features a spacious cabin with soft pads and polished textures, plus accents to further enhance its high-class sedan feel. It comes with a One-Push Start system across all variants. Entertainment is provided by an eight-inch advanced touchscreen display audio compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto & WebLink in select models. Honda has also fitted it with a new air conditioning design with rotary knobs, digital display, and illumination. Rear passengers get expanded leg room and knee clearance, while higher trim models include rear ventilation to enhance comfort. Finally, the cabin has reduced the intrusion of noise and vibration into the cabin.
It’s powered by a new 1.5-liter four-cylinder DOHC i-VTEC engine that produces 121ps at 6,600 rpm and a maximum of 145 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm. It comes with a choice of a Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT), or a wide-range 6-Speed Manual Transmission option.

Finally, Honda also upgrades the safety across all variants with the addition of formerly exclusive features like Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with Agile Handling Assist (AHA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Hill Start Assist (HSA), and Power Door Locks with Speed Sensing Auto Lock.
The City is available in four variants, starting with the 1.5 S MT at P838,000. The top of the line is the new RS variant (P1.048M), which comes with a sportier, blacked-out look both in the exterior and interior.
Honda CR-V

Receiving improvements as well is the 2020 CR-V. The carmaker revealed the new model with considerable updates, available in two engine choices and four variants. These are the 2.0 S CVT (gas, 5-seater), V 9-AT (diesel, 7-seater), S 9AT Honda Sensing (diesel, 7-seater), and SX 9-AT (diesel, 7-seater).
The new CR-V bears a new face, as characterized by the new LED headlights and LED foglamps (across the entire range), chrome grille, and front bumper with chrome bumper accents. Behind is a redesigned rear bumper, smoked taillights and roof rails fitted as standard on all variants. There are also new wheels with sizes depending on the variant.

Inside, the new CR-V features the familiar interior of its predecessor. Perhaps one if its most unique features is the lack of a stick shift, replaced with drive selector buttons as found in Honda’s more luxurious Legend sedan.
Passengers get a seven-inch touchscreen display audio system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For cargo, the S CVT 5-seater boasts of 522 liters behind the second row. The V, S and SX Diesel variants come with a 50:50 split reclining second row seats and additional air-conditioning vents with independent controls. Cargo space is 472 liters, and with the second and third row seats folded, this goes up to 976 liters.
Propelling the CR-V are two engine options: a 1.6-liter DOHC i-DTEC turbodiesel mated to a nine speed automatic transmission, and a lone gasoline variant powered by a 2.0-liter SOHC i-VTEC paired to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Both get Honda’s Eco Assist System, which comes with the ECON driving mode that integrates an Eco-Coaching Ambient Light t encourage more efficient driving.

Naturally, the CR-V ticks all the boxes when it comes to safety. There’s a long list of standard safety features. However, Honda throws in lots more in the SX and S diesel. These features come in the form of a suite of driver assist technologies called Honda SENSING.
Not surprisingly, these features have helped the new CR-V achieve a 5-Star ASEAN NCAP (17- Protocol) safety rating.
The new CR-V comes in a wide array of colors depending on the variant. Its price starts at PhP1,678,000 for the 2.0 S CVT; PhP 1,713,000 for the V diesel 9AT; PhP 1,888,000 for the S disel 9 AT Honda SENSING; and PhP 2,158,000 for the SX diesel 9AT AWD.
Both the all-new Honda City and new Honda CR-V are now available in all 34 Honda dealers nationwide.
