BUTUAN CITY - The number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Caraga region continued to rise with 41 new cases recorded, according to the Department of Health-Center for Health and Development (DOH-CHD) on Sunday.
Based on the COVID-19 Regional Case Bulletin released by the DOH-CHD, 25 new cases were recorded in Butuan City, nine in Agusan del Sur, six in Surigao del Sur, and one in Tandag City.
Five deaths were also logged.
Northeastern Mindanao or Caraga region now has a total of 2, 594 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 684 active cases and 111 deaths
In a virtual press briefing on Sunday, the DOH-CHD also reported that Caraga region has also recorded 1,797 recoveries.
According to the medical status of patients, the DOH-CHD said four were severe, 10 have mild symptoms, and 27 were asymptomatic.
Among the latest cases, 31 were local transmission cases, niune with no history of travel to an area with known local transmission or exposure to COVID-19, and one with travel history from an area with local transmission.
Among those infected, 24 were female, with the youngest at seven years old and the oldest 78s years old.
Meanwhile, top DOH 13 Regional Director Dr. Jose R. Llacuna, Jr. has called on the implementation of stricter health protocols to stop the local transmission of the dreaded virus in some parts of the region, particularly in this region’s premier and capital city of Butuan.
“Let us strictly implement containment measures,” appealing top DOH 13 official.
