Calvin Abueva woke up to a blessed Sunday morning with the good news awaiting him in Clark, Pampanga.
The PBA has officially lifted Abueva's indefinite suspension, unchaining "The Beast" for the first time since receiving the sanction 16 months ago.
Many fans were ecstatic in the much-awaited return of the Phoenix star, taking to social media their excitement and sentiments upon announcement.
Phoenix swingman Matthew Wright also welcomed his teammate's reinstatement by posting a photo of Abueva while answering queries from the media.
"Bout f***** time," Wright captioned in all caps, accompanied with three emojis of opened padlocks.
Charles Tiu and Allan Gregorio were among the basketball personalities who also greeted Abueva for his return.
Gregorio, assistant manager of the NLEX Road Warriors, recalled how Abueva helped the team win three straight championships in the PBA D-League.
"Forgotten by many, Calvin is will always be family to @NLEXexpressways so we wish him well. Hope e finds the right path," tweeted Gregorio.
Former PBA commissioner Noli Eala also joined in celebrating the "great news" for the lively Phoenix forward.
"Happy for Calvin, his team and fans. This is great for the league. Time for all of us to put this to bed and move on," Eala tweeted.
Abueva is set to rejoin his team starting Monday as Phoenix Super LPG takes on NLEX in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Angeles University Foundation Sports and Cultural Center.
