Statement of PhilHealth spokesman Rey Baleña

The placing of Corporate Communication Department Senior Manager Rey T. Baleña on October 5 under the custody of Pasig City Police was due to a cyberlibel complaint filed by a colleague in Cebu City for a supposedly libelous material disseminated through the Agency's e-mail service in 2019. 

Baleña pleaded not guilty to the charge, and asserted that he had been wrongfully and unfairly implicated in the said incident. He said that he is leaving the case to take its due course, and for the Court to see the whole truth and to vindicate him in the end.  

As this legal controversy is already with the Court, and in observance of the sub judice rule, he respectfully requests that the matter be not discussed publicly in due deference to the ongoing legal process.
