Valenzuela City gets 226 new contact tracers

The local government of Valenzuela City is confident that its efforts in tracing contacts of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients will be more efficient following the hiring of 226 more contact tracers.

The contact tracers belong to the first batch hired by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for the city which is expected to double Valenzuela's current operations for its COVID-19 response.

They will be deployed to various communities to do field work and supplement the operations of at least 100 city-hired contact tracers assigned at the city's Mega Contact Tracing Center.

Mayor Rex Gatchalian on Tuesday welcomed the new contact tracers during a special orientation and training held at the amphitheater of the city's People's Park.

"In the seminar conducted by the City Health Office (CHO), the 226 newly-hired contact tracers were trained in proper disease surveillance and contact tracing, handling data privacy and the use of the ValTrace App – Valenzuela’s newest addition to its contact tracing platform utilizing the use of QR codes and location history," the local government said.

Most of the new contact tracers are Valenzuela city residents. Some live in nearby Bulacan province, Manila and Navotas cities.

The DILG aims to hire 400 contact tracers for Valenzuela City. Those who are interested may visit DILG Contract Tracing Portal at https://ct-ncr.com/.
