Robredo gave the public a glimpse of the facility through a Facebook Live video. She was seen with village councilman Tobit Cruz.

She showed some students were present at the learning hub despite the suspension of classes due to Tropical Storm “Pepito.”

“Tinitingnan ko iyong modules nila, hindi siya madali (I was looking at their modules, the lessons were not easy),” Robredo said in a live video on her official Facebook page.

“Sobra talagang laking bagay. Kasi iniisip ko kung sa bahay nila gagawin, tapos wala iyong parents nila, mahirap talaga (This is a big help. Because I’m thinking if they will do the lessons at home, and their parents are not with them, it will be really difficult),” she noted.

This learning hub was formally opened on Monday, along with several other sites in Caloocan City; Taytay, Rizal; Himamaylan, Negros Occidental; Lucena City; and Tabaco City, Albay.

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) has set up these facilities as part of its Bayanihan E-skwela program so students who have no gadgets and internet access may find a place to study.

In Taytay, Rizal, Robredo said her office’s partner for the hub is the community itself.

During the visit, the vice president observed the operations of the hub and spent some time with young learners.

Cruz said they have 220 students who registered to use the learning facility. These are Grade 1 to Senior High School students being tutored by 10 trained volunteers.
