Curfew in Taguig, Pateros starts at 12 midnight

After Metro Manila mayors agreed on Sunday (October 18) to shorten their curfew hours to help boost the economy, Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano and Pateros Mayor Miguel Ponce III shortened the curfew hours in their respective towns from 12 midnight to 4 a.m..

Cayetano announced the new curfew schedule via an executive order based on City Ordinance No. 24 (New Normal Ordinance of Taguig City) that authorized him “to set or modify the temporary restriction of dispensable travels and mobility within the City of Taguig if the need arises in order to prevent or control the spread and transmission of any infectious disease in the City or upon the occurrence or imminent threat of public health.”

As of Oct. 19, Taguig has 8,360 confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases with 8,128 recoveries, 172 active cases and 60 deaths.  

Ponce, on the other hand, announced the new curfew schedule on Facebook. He said the decision is based on the decreasing virus infections in the municipality. 

As of Oct. 19, Pateros has 1,739 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 1,668 recoveries, 22 deaths, and 49 active cases. 

Muntinlupa City is expected to shorten curfew hours next week. Muntinlupa City Council Majority Floor Leader Raul Corro told Manila Bulletin that they will pass an ordinance on Monday (October 26) imposing curfew from 12 midnight to 4 a.m. until Nov. 30, and from  12 midnight to 3 a.m. from Dec. 1 onwards.
