LOOK: Miss Universe Philippines unveils its official crown

Behold the 'Filipina'

During a chat with Miss Universe Philippines (MUP) National Director Shamcey Supsup-Lee, she teases that the crown is such a "big thing." Figuratively, the crown presents a huge responsibility. But when it was unveiled, we now understand what she truly meant.

A true Filipino brand, Villarica Pawnshop, is the official crown sponsor of the MUP. Just like the pageant, the Bulacan-hailed business has been and advocate of women empowerment, following after its founder Paz Resureccion Villarica

"We are very grateful to them for stepping up to the challenge of creating this masterpiece," MUP posted. "More than their expertise on gems and jewelry, they provided us with valuable insights on the significance of precious stones and what each one represents."

Called the "Filipina," the crown is made of topaz, sapphire, ruby, diamonds, and yellow pearls, designed to resemble the Philippine flag, with swirls of leaves as elements that symbolize a woman's journey. According to MUP, these gems are emblems of dreams, ambitions, happiness, pride, self-worth, and empowerment.

"The crown represents the achievement of one's mind over body as a Filipina," MUP said. "It will be a symbol of triumph over one's journey of trials, hard work, and perseverance in obtaining one's dream."

Who among the candidates will be the first to wear this crown? We'll find out on Oct. 25.
