Dreamy first birthday shoot in Paris, why not?

Celebrate this milestone with a beautiful shoot to remember

First birthdays are always a milestone that’s meant to be celebrated in a big way. And this pandemic has caused everyone to hold back a little in everything they do, but this doesn’t mean you still can’t celebrate in a “big” way at home.

Celebrity stylist and mom-of-two Boop Yap Tañedo shares the same birth month as her baby daughter Kassie, and, like any parent, she had planned for a big celebration. “Even if our plans for Kassie's first birthday party were cancelled, we still wanted to make sure we did something special for our little girl. What better way to celebrate her first birthday by having this special milestone shoot, a momento she can look back at and keep in the future,” says Boop.

The shoot was done at home and they made sure to follow all the safety precautions needed. Boop noted, “We limited the number of people at the shoot. It was only the photographer Jason of Pram and Cradle, florist and event stylist Gideon Hermosa and one of his staff. All materials were sanitized and disinfected, and face shields and masks were worn while practicing social distancing at all times.”

As for the theme? It was absolutely the prettiest with two-dimensional props and fresh flowers set in Paris. Boop shares the reason why, “One of my favorite bonding activities with Kassie is reading books and I noticed that she took a special affinity towards Claris: The Chicest mouse in Paris by Megan Hess. When I noticed this, I realized it was a perfect theme to use for Kassie’s first birthday.” 

It was a simple celebration at home with her husband Kevin and children, three-year-old Kenzo and the birthday celebrant Kassie, including their favorite food, extended play time, and opening gifts. “This is all we can ask for right now—us being together, healthy and happy. Birthday celebrations need not be grand nowadays. If this pandemic taught us anything, it’s the importance of family. Spending time over a meal is more than enough to celebrate these milestones.”
