ILOILO CITY—Cops have seized more than P600,000 worth of shabu in an anti-illegal drugs-operation in this city.
Lt. Col. Joem Malong, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office (PRO-6), said 60 grams of shabu were seized from identified drug personalities Eliza May Olar Marfata and Distin Jay Puayap Garvilles in Mandurriao district of this city.
Marfata and Garvilles were arrested by joint elements of PRO-6’s Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit Team 3, led by Lt. Glen Soliman, and Iloilo City Police Station 4, led by Maj. Engelbert Banquillo.
The couple was initially trying to transact with an undercover cop when they were busted.
Authorities have identified the suspects as major street-level dealers that have links to a known drug personality.
Soliman said that Marfata was a live-in partner of a male drug personality now serving time at the New Bilibid Prison. The unnamed drug personality was the one allegedly arranging transactions with suppliers while behind bars in Metro Manila.
Once the items are procured, he sends it to Marfata in Iloilo City via roll-on, roll-off (RoRo) cargo, which are then dropped off at a bus terminal in Arevalo district.
Meanwhile, the suspects are now facing charges of violating Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Drugs Act of 2002.
