NCT’s ‘Resonance Pt. 1’ tops weekly album chart with 644,711 copies sold


K-pop boy band NCT grabbed first place on the weekly music chart with their new album “NCT 2020 Resonance Pt. 1.”

According to Korea’s Hanteo Chart, the album sold 644,711 copies in the first week of release, higher by 538,622 copies than the “NCT 2018 Empathy” album, which had 106,089 copies in first-week sales.

The new album sold 315,328 copies on the first day of release on Oct. 12 and topped the daily album chart, followed by 47,389 on Oct. 13; 7,248 on Oct. 14; 6,047 on Oct. 15; 230,186 on Oct. 16; 3,872 on Oct. 17; and 34,641 on Oct. 18 for a total of 644,711 copies.

“NCT 2020 Resonance Pt. 1” came with a backing of 1.12 million copies in pre-orders and it features 23 members of NCT including new members Sungchan and Shotaro.

It is fronted by the main track "Make A Wish (Birthday Song)," a hip-hop beat-based pop dance song featuring Taeyong, Doyoung, Jaehyun, Lucas, Xiaojun, Jaemin and Shotaro along with 11 other tracks. As of writing, the music video for the song has garnered 57.29 million views on YouTube since Oct. 12.

According to SM Entertainment, “NCT 2020 Resonance Pt. 1” grabbed the No. 1 spot on iTunes Top Albums chart in 35 countries. It also became No. 1 on Japan’s Line Music album chart and on China’s QQ Music.

Today, Oct. 19, the music video for the song “From Home” will be released at 6PM Korea time (5PM in the Philippines). A slow tempo R&B pop ballad track, “From Home” features Taeil, Doyoung, Kun, Haechan, Yuta, Renjun and Chenle.

A special live broadcast called "Cozy Night From Home" will be held on NCT’s channel on Naver V Live an hour before the MV is released.
