Positive and supportive relationships are more fulfilled, happier and feel more connected.
This is the message the digital series "Better Days" wants to impart to the public as it attempts to change the negative impressions on same-sex relationships.
"Hindi ko alam kung paano namin ikukumpara ang 'Better Days' sa ibang naunang BL series," said Carlo Obispo, director of the series, during an online press conference recently. "Gusto lang namin makapagbigay ng inspiration at happiness sa lahat."
Obispo said: "Relationship should not destroy each other pero dapat makatulong ito para mag-grow ang relationship ng isang couple. Sa series na hindi, ipapakita namin ang pagtutulungan ng isang couple para maging successful sila sa isa't isa. Hindi lang ito puro wal-wal o pagpapakita ng katawan."
The lead stars of the series - Benedix Ramos and Chester Chua - share their excitement in taking part in the series. Both actors are successful YouTube content creators with more than 100,000 subscribers to their names.
"I said yes to the series not knowing kung ano story nito. Hindi ko na ako nagtanong pa ng marami basta ang goal ko rito ay maging responsible actor," said Chua when asked about intimate scenes in the series.
Ramos said: "Panibagong challenge ito sa akin. Alam din ng parents ko ang project na ito. At saka malaki ang tiwala ko kay Direk Carlo."
"Better Days" follows the colorful story of a vlogger and a chef and how food will play a pivotal role in igniting a spark in what seemed a candid relationship. It will premiere on Unframed Film’s YouTube Channel on October 30.
"Food will also take centerstage in this series which will begin in October," said Kristian Mark Villaflor, film executive producer. "It is an original Filipino BL series that focuses on love, hope, dreams and acceptance."
Obispo said that the BL series is inspired by their BL couple friends.
“Nung nagbe-brainstorming kami ng producer ko, if we wanted to make a BL, nag-agree kami na magiging inspirational siya. This is inspired by our BL couple friends na ‘yung love nila is founded on ambitions, goals and dreams at sabay nilang ina-achieve together.”
"Better Days" is produced by Unframed Film Production and co-produced by Lovejohn Media Productions and Uncle Scott Global Productions in cooperation with Rough Road Productions.
