Toyota gives everyone the power to lead with the launch of the new Fortuner today. Since the Fortuner’s first entry into the local market in 2005, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has already sold over 220,000 units of this popular SUV. In 2017, the Fortuner was crowned best-selling vehicle in the country. Just this August, the model dominated the mid-sized SUV category with over 30% market share.

With the 2020 update, the Fortuner proves itself to be a formidable and reliable SUV, whether for the city or off-road. These are thanks to updates that make the driver feel more confident, prestigious, and safe.

Leading with a new look

Toyota Fortuner LTD 4×4

Leading the charge is its new variant, the LTD, bearing a bold new look and many new features. The new Fortuner LTD’s look is composed of a two-tone color trademark, distinguished by the black roof, bespoke front and rear bumper design, and machine-cut 18-inch alloy wheels.

It lights the way with split-type LED headlamps and LED front foglamps, sequential turn signal lamps, and the redesigned LED rear combination lamps unique to the LTD variants.

Options continued to be offered even for Q and V variants. They get LED foglamps and redesigned LED rear combination lamps, as well as bi-beam LED headlamps with LED line guide that serve as daytime running lights. G variants also now come with bi-beam LED headlamps with LED DRL.

Confidence, ease, and control

Toyota makes it easy to start your journey with a smart entry and push start system for the LTD, Q, and V grades. The LTD variant features an elegant interior in leather with maroon accents, as well as galaxy black trim and interior illumination. The Q variant gets a black leather interior complemented by a dark wood trim.

Getting in the right position is easy with eight-way power adjust front seats for the driver and front passengers in the LTD and Q variants. The LTD even throws in a front seat ventilation system.

As for entertainment and communication, the center console features a system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto systems across all variants. They’re paired with a nine-speaker JBL sound system in the LTD. While a wireless charger and rear USB chargers are fitted on the LTD, Q, and V grades. Climate is controlled by front and rear automatic controls for the V grade and up.

Power and efficiency

Powering the new Fortuner LTD and Q variants is the 1GD-FTV (2.8-liter diesel) engine which produces 201 HP (204 Ps) max output and 500 Nm max torque. The V and G variants have the 2GD-FTV (2.4-liter diesel) engine which produces 147 HP (150Ps) max output and 400 Nm max torque. The 2GD engine has also been improved for the New Fortuner V and G variants with a 5% improvement in fuel efficiency versus the previous generation Fortuner.

This power delivery can be further tuned to your driving style with Eco and Sport driving modes for LTD and Q variants, and Eco and Power for V and G variants.

Innovative safety

With safety as Toyota’s utmost priority, the New Fortuner is the latest vehicle to get Toyota Safety Sense (TSS). TSS is a safety suite that includes smart safety systems like the Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, and Adaptive Cruise Control now available for the Fortuner LTD and Q.

All variants come with SRS airbags (seven for the LTD variants), three-point ELR seatbelts, Anti-Lock Brake System with Brake Assist and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Vehicle Stability Control with Traction Control, and Hill-Start Assist Control. The 4×4 LTD variant also has Downhill Assist Control.

All variants also come with a total of six clearance and back sonars, in addition to the Panoramic View Monitor that comes with the LTD, Q, and V variants or reverse camera for the G variants.
