Pacio likens ML to MMA: It can teach you teamwork, strategy, patience

Believe it or not, Team Lakay's Joshua Pacio considers gaming similar to mixed martial arts in some aspects.

An avid fan of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, ML for short, Pacio, who goes by the in-game name "Ben10", has been playing the multiplayer online battle arena game for two years now.

What started as a mere hobby and pastime turned out to be one of Pacio's new passion aside from being a full-time athlete.

“I like it because it’s not just a game, it can teach you about teamwork, strategy, and sometimes patience, similar to MMA," said the ONE Championship strawweight king.

Pacio, Lakay teammates Eduard Folayang and Kevin Belingon, and ONE Championship heavyweight titleholder Brandon Vera have started streaming their ML games in their newly-launched "Truth x Lakay Gaming" on Facebook.

On Wednesday, the four MMA stars announced that they have officially partnered with Facebook Gaming to extend their streaming content.

Folayang, who is set for an October 30 comeback in ONE Championship, counted playing ML as a stress reliever for as long as he wins. But defeat can also be stressful sometimes, he added.

The two-time lightweight champion, who only began playing last March, admitted enjoying the company of interacting with fans through the game.

"Some fans know it’s me they are playing with and they get excited. There’s also some trash talking going on in this game, it’s funny. But I think we all should respect each other always.”

Belingon, meanwhile, doesn't want to be indulged in the game too much, considering that it can be "dangerously addictive."

"If you’re not careful, it can really take over your time. I try not to get too addicted to it! I’m surprised so many fans play this and want to add me," said the former bantamweight champion. "I’m still an amateur, so sorry if I don’t do well."

These are just one of the few activities the Igorot warriors can do to connect with their supporters in these trying times.
