Bren CS:GO team lands second in Asian Qualifiers

Bren Esports' Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) team made waves recently as it finished second in the online FunSpark ULTI 2020 Asian Qualifiers.

Bren went on a Cinderella run in the lower bracket before putting up a solid fight against Chinese squad Wings Up Gaming only to fall 1-2 in the grand finals last Wednesday night.Â

"No matter the outcome, masaya na rin kami na nakarating kami sa finals, more so sinceÂ nanggaling kami sa lower bracket," saidÂ in-gameÂ leaderÂ Chris "Pro" Martir, who was joined by Deko "Papi Chulo" Evangelista, Riley "Witz" Go, Patrick "Derek" Lacson and newcomer Elmer "micr0" Coloma.Â

"Although masakit na natalo kami sa finals, proudÂ pa rin kami sa narating namin lalo na may bago kaming player," added the former TNCÂ Pro Team member.Â

After losing 1-2 to Invictus Gaming in the first round in Group B, Bren stormed through the lower bracket, beating JieJieHao (2-1), Triumphant Song (2-1),Â D-13 (2-1) and Lynn Vision (2-0).Â

The Philippine side exacted its revenge on IG in the lower bracket finale, 2-1 (9-16 on Train; 16-12 on Inferno; 16-12 on Dust 2).Â

However, Bren fell short of qualifying for the main FunSpark Ulti tourney and the $15,000 prize against Wings (8-16 on Nuke; 16-13 on Inferno; 12-16 on Mirage).

Bren previously raked in $9,000 (P436,000) after posting a fifth-place finish in the 10-team Perfect World Asia League (PAL) Fall 2020 last week.
