A new intensive care unit (ICU) at Sta. Ana Hospital in Manila was opened by the city government on Wednesday.
The facility is fully air-conditioned and is stocked with medical supplies and equipment. It can cater to at least 10 patients.
In a Facebook post, Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso said the city government will continue to beef up the capital city's health sector, especially amid the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
To our fellow Manileños, this is our offering to you. We will continue to strengthen our healthcare facilities with proper equipment)," his post read.
With your help in cooperating with our calls and observing medical guidelines to be disciplined for everyone's safety, with God's mercy, we will make it through this pandemic)," he added.
The Manila mayor reminded residents to follow the government-issued health and safety guidelines such as wearing face masks in public, washing hands frequently, and practicing physical distancing.
