Eight of every 10 crime incidents in the country have been solved since January 2020, bannering a high crime solution efficiency of the Philippine National Police (PNP) after an aggressive investigation courses on its personnel.

Based on the data from the PNP, the 79.6 percent crime solution efficiency was noted from January to September this year based on the parameters set by the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management.
These are cases where the perpetrator has been identified and arrested and a case has been filed for prosecution of the offender.
Several years ago, the PNP was plagued with low crime solutions which were attributed to poor handling of the investigation. A series of training courses were launched for all police investigators that include online training programs.
In 2019, the PNP recorded a 76.3 percent Crime Solution Efficiency from January to September. This year’s crime solution noted a 3.28 percent increase.
It also came with reduction of criminal incidents from January to September— from 372,621 incidents recorded during the same 9-month period in 2019 down to only 283,549 this year.
The reduction in crime is attributed to the more than 200 days of community quarantine lockdown which denied criminal elements more opportunity to strike.
PNP data on crime incidents were obtained from police blotters of 17 Police Regional Offices across the country to come up with a comprehensive and accurate picture of the nationwide crime environment.
