DepEd should study a bit, says Imee after noting modules mistakes
Senator Imee R. Marcos took pity at the Department of Education (DepEd) for the many mistakes found in its learning modules distributed to students.
Marcos, chairperson of the Senate economic affairs committee, took a dig at education officials by saying, “Deped baka kailangang mag-aral ng kaunti (Perhaps, DepEd should study a bit).”
Marcos and others senators as well as her younger brother, former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr., found 35 mistakes in arithmetic though others say there are 37.
Marcos stressed this in an interview over Radyo Pilipinas by Erwin Tulfo and his part-time partner, Bongbong, yesterday.
Tulfo and Bongbong took note of a complaint from a parent that a DepEd module made mistakes in history on past Presidents and their legacies.
They pointed out that the education module gave credit to the late President Cory Aquino for expanding the coverage of the agrarian reform program and sidelined President Marcos’ actual expansion of the agrarian reform program.
“More importantly, yung Presidential Decree (PD) No. 27, pero siguro yung pagpapalawig yun CARP, yung expanded CARP,” Sen. Imee said of the decree her late father issued that expanded the comprehensive agrarian reform program.
Sen. Imee said she pitied the DepEd for its mistakes, most likely due to its haste in printing the modules that led to typographical and printing errors.
“Nakakatakot at yung ating mga titser ditto sa Cordillera, sa Northern Luzon, sa Mindanao, talaga naman extra challenge ang pag-distribute ng modules, tapos pagdating ng module, walang nakaka-intindi at mali-mali. Nakakahiya naman (Teachers in the Cordillera, Northern Luzon and in Mindanao are faced with extra challenges in distributing the modules, and in the end nobody could understand them and there are many mistakes as well. This is shameful),” she said.
During the interview, Sen. Imee joked that her brother is jobless.
Young Marcos is still waiting for the decision of the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET) on his electoral protest against Vice President Leni Robredo.
