Mayor Gatchalian visits family of slain robbery victim

Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian on Monday visited the wake of a company messenger who was robbed and shot dead in broad daylight in the city last week.

In a Twitter post made by the local government, it said that Gatchalian expressed his sympathies to the family of victim Niño Luigi Hernando of Barangay Parada and assured the latter that the city police will "focus" on his case.

"Patuloy na hinahanap ng pulisya ang mga nagkasala sa krimen na ito (The police are still hunting down the perpetrators)," the local government added.

Hernando was shot dead by two motorcycle-riding gunmen on October 9 while he was travelling aboard his motorcycle along Maysan Road. Investigation showed that he just withdrew money from the bank when the incident happened.

The assailants then took the victim’s bag and motorcycle as they fled, police said.
