Bren Esports finishes 5th in CS:GO tournament

Bren Esports' Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) team raked in $9,000 (P436,000) after posting a fifth-place finish in the 10-team Perfect World Asia League (PAL) Fall 2020 on Sunday.

Bren came back from a first map defeat to beat CHECKMATE of Mongolia, 2-1, in the battle for fifth place of the Regional Major Rankings online tournament that staked a prize pool of $100,000 (P4.8 million).

After a 9-16 loss in Inferno, Bren got its engine going in Train to seize a 16-14 win.

The Filipino squad then closed out the series with a 16-12 victory in Mirage.

Bren, composed of Chris "Pro." Martir, Deko "Papi Chulo" Evangelista, Riley "Witz" Go, Patrick "Derek" Lacson, Johnty "JA" Arone and Elmer "micr0" Coloma, made an impressive run in the group stage to enter the playoffs.

The PH side racked up 12 points in the single round-robin season, enough to clinch the last playoff spot.

However, Bren bowed down to eventual runner-up TIGER of Mongolia, 0-2, in the upper bracket first round last Friday.

Asia's No. 2 team ViCi Gaming emerged as the champion and grabbed $25,000 on top of ranking points. Top squad TYLOO settled for third while Invictus Gaming wound up fourth.
