Some PUV routes to and from Antipolo City open

The difficulty of leaving home for work with the limited public transport is expected to ease for residents of Antipolo with the re-opening of transport routes from Antipolo, Metro Manila, Laguna and vice versa.

Antipolo City  gov’t spokesman and former Mayor Junjun Ynares, III, told Manila Bulletin that at least 16 routes have been allowed by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Land Transportation, Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

These are:

1. Antipolo to Cubao (via Sumulong Highway and vice versa) – bus

2. Antipolo to Cubao (via Olalia Road/Cogeo and vice versa) -  bus

3. SM Masinag to Greenbelt/Ayala (Point-to-Point)  - RRCG Bus

4. Antipolo to Robinsons Galleria (Point-to-Point) – RRCG Bus

5. Antipolo to Ayala (via Ortigas and vice versa)    - UV Express

12. Cogeo to Padilla (via Marcos Highway, vice versa) -  traditional PUJ

13. Mambugan to Marikina City (via Sumulong Highway, vice versa) – traditional PUJ

15. Cogeo, Bagong Nayon to Marikina City (via Marcos Highway, vice versa) traditional PUJ

16. Siniloan, Laguna to Cainta (via Antipolo-Teresa Road, vice versa) – mini bus

As it welcomes the re-opening of the 16 PUV routes, the city government is appealing to DOTr and LTFRB to consider re-opening other routes to ease the burden of commuters.

Because there are still routes that are not yet open to public transport, some commuters fall prey to private vehicles which charge a minimum one-way fare of P150 per passenger, which is triple the regular fare of P50 prior to quarantine restrictions.
