No more historical films for Jerrold Tarog?

It seems that Jerrold Tarog has had enough of films relating to our history, taking to Twitter to answer a fan eager for more of the same.

Asked if he is still keen on doing the much-talked film about national hero Apolinario Mabini he said, “I can't speak for future me, but past/present me is feeling very done with historical films after the trilogy.”

He added in parenthesis, “if we get to finish it.”

The trilogy refers to “Heneral Luna,” “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral,” and the yet-to-be-filmed “Quezon.”

Produced by TBA Films, “Heneral Luna” was a major box-office hit, earning P256 million when it was released in 2015.

“Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral,” which opened in 2018, earned some P120 million in ticket sales.

“Quezon,” based on the life of former president Manuel L. Quezon, has been delayed after Tarog was contracted by ABS-CBN’s Star Cinema to direct the problematic “Darna,” which has since been shelved.
