Las Pinas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar said prior to the opening of classes on October 5, a memorandum was issued directing all barangay officials and the police to ensure the full cooperation of city residents to regulate the use of videoke, karaoke and other sound amplifying equipment during class hours.
Aguilar said the memorandum was issued upon the request of the Las Pinas Department of Education (DepEd) Division to ensure that students will not be disturbed during class hours.
The mayor also said barangay officials upon receiving the memorandum immediately told residents under their area of jurisdiction to regulate the use of videoke, karaoke, sing-a-long sound system and other sound amplifying equipment during class hours to make the student’s environment conducive to learning as they transitioned to a new mode of learning at home.
Aguilar also said that barangay officials were also encourage to pass and strictly implement their own ordinances in regulating the use of videoke and other devices during class hours.
