The Department of Foreign Affairs on Friday, Oct. 9. reported three new confirmed COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) cases, four new recoveries, and no new fatalities among Filipinos abroad.
In its latest daily report on coronavirus cases involving overseas Filipinos, the DFA said the new cases and new recoveries were recorded in three countries in Asia and the Pacific, and Europe.
As of Oct. 9,, the total number of overseas Filipinos infected with COVID-19 since the outbreak started in February this year is now 10,864.
Of the total, 3,145 overseas Filipinos are undergoing treatment in various hospitals abroad, 6.919 have recovered, and 800 have died due to COVID-19 infections.
Of the major geographical regions in the world, the combined Middle East and Africa remain as the region with the biggest number of coronavirus-infected Filipinos with 7,137, followed by Asia and the Pacific with 1,711, Europe with 1,206, and the Americas with 810.
“As the DFA personnel in our FSPs continue to actively monitor the status of the Filipino community abroad and work to safely repatriate our stranded nationals home, we remain optimistic that similar to reports from yesterday and today, more and more Filipinos will continue to recover from and overcome COVID-19,” the department said.
