NRX takes second victory in Garena Qualifiers

NRX Jeremiah 29:11 proved its doubters wrong once more as it pummeled Malaysia's Resurgence, 2-1, for a second straight victory in the Call of Duty Mobile (CODM) World Championship 2020-Garena Qualifiers on Wednesday night. 

After a disastrous opening day campaign apparently caused by lag, the Filipino squad sustained its strong showing from its 2-1 win over Singapore's Divinity.Uprising on Tuesday. 

NRX climbed to No. 4 with four points and a superior record against Resurgence in the six-team tournament. Only the top four teams will advance to the playoffs. 

"Ngayon alam na namin 'yung mistake namin. Ginagawa ng team 'yung best nila every game. Lahat nag-step up, walang bumibitiw natalo man sa first game. Ang naging mindset namin babawi kami," said NRX coach Michael "Kyaaah" Belaya. 

(We know our mistake now. The team is doing its best every game. All of them stepped up and no one gave up even though we lost in the first game. Our mindset was that we'll get back.) 

"Wala na samin 'yung nag-doubt or nang-bash, mahal namin sila lahat (We're not thinking of those who doubted or bashed us, we all love them). We just focus to be better each day," he added. 

NRX hurdled a lethargic 10-79 start in Hardpoint at the Summit as it forced a 101-101 deadlock only to lose 103-150 in the end. 

The PH team bounced back big with a 6-0 sweep in Search and Destroy at the Firing Range behind John Kenneth "KenDy" Pimentel and Kennedy "iDra" Mondoy. 

KenDy finished a flawless record of nine kills against zero deaths while iDra tallied 10 kills, one assist and two deaths. 

Picking up where they left off, the Filipino standouts solidly held the Bravo site in Domination at the Standoff to take a 75-38 lead at the half en route to a 150-79 stomp. 

All NRX players scored double-digit kills, with Benj "CRUSH" Trinidad leading the pack with 21 kills and six assists against nine deaths. 

NRX will tangle with the winless FunPlus Phoenix of Taiwan at 7 p.m. today.
