ISABELA ---- The 5th Infantry Division (5ID) is the first military camp in the country to launch an E-learning Center that will help dependents of soldiers in their online classes.
The camp-based E-learning Center was conceptualized by 5ID commander Brig. Gen. Laurence E. Mina and his wife Santina, in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
Soldiers' dependents will get free access to 33mbps internet speed in a gymnasium where a classroom was set-up with four desktop computers and a printer donated by the DICT.
This will also address the connectivity problem being encountered by the students in their online classes.
Novie Gem, a BS Tourism student at the University of Cordilleras and his brother Noel, a Grade 12 student at Isabela National High School; and Harlie Dave Ramos, Grade 8 student at St. Ferdinand College, City of Ilagan, were among the first to use the facilities of the camp-based E-learning Center.
“Malaking tulong po , kasi gaya ngayon, may klase po kami, iisipin ko pa kung saan ko ilalagay yung wi-fi namin para malakas iyong signal kasi putol-putol. Ngayon po e dito na lang po ako uupo.” Louela Alonzo, a Grade 11 student at St. Ferdinand College, said
Soldiers who are holders of an Education degree will be required to render tutorial services to the students at the E-learning Center.
