Police files murder raps vs 3 NPA members for ambush-slay of Albay brgy officials

LIGAO CITY, Albay – Police have filed murder case against three suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA) for killing the chairperson and treasurer of Barangay Batbat, Guinobatan town.

In a report of Albay Police Provincial Office (PPO) Director Col. Primitivo C. Bayongan, Jr to the Police Regional Office 5 (PRO-5), he said the murder raps were filed by the Guinobatan Municipal Police Station (MPS) against Reynante Ollano Oli, a resident of Barangay Balite; Alvin Orpiada, a resident of Sitio Libas, Barangay Maguiron, both in Guinobatan town; and an unidentified suspect on Tuesday night.

Bayongan said that the suspects were active members of NPA.

Barangay Chairperson Luzviminda Dayandante, 50, and Treasurer Albert P. Orlina, 45, were gunned down by the suspects last September 21 while they were traversing Sitio Gumian, Barangay Sinungtan in Guinobatan town, onboard a motorcycle.

Dayandante sustained four gunshot wounds while Orlina had a gunshot wound in the back from an M-16 rifle.

The victims were buried September 30.
