6 more Filipinos abroad infected with virus


Philippine foreign posts on Wednesday reported six new confirmed cases, two new recoveries, and one new fatality due to COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) among Filipinos abroad.

In its daily report, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the new cases, new recoveries, and new lone fatality came from Asia and the Pacific and in the Middle East. 
 
At the same time, the total number of countries and regions with confirmed cases among Filipinos has increased to 80 with a new report from an additional country in the Middle East.
 
To date, the total number of COVID-19 cases involving Filipino nationals abroad is 10,849. Out of the total, 3,44 are undergoing treatment, 6,905 have recovered and 800 fatalities due to the pandemic. 
 
The Middle East and Africa remain the combined regions with the most number of COVID-19 infections among overseas Filipinos with a total of 7,130, followed by Asia and the Pacific, 1,708; Europe, 1,201, and the Americas, 810. 
 
“The DFA, together with its Foreign Service Posts, remains fully committed to monitoring and assisting our nationals abroad amidst this ongoing battle against the COVID-19 pandemic,” the department said in a statement.
