YouTube reveals official first 24-hour views for BLACKPINK’s ‘Lovesick Girls’ MV


YouTube has revealed the total views in the first 24 hours of K-pop girl group BLACKPINK’s new music video “Lovesick Girls.”

BLACKPINK made their comeback on Oct. 2 with “The Album” which includes the main track “Lovesick Girls.” The music video for the song was also uploaded on YouTube on the same day.

YouTube told Manila Bulletin Entertainment on Oct. 6 that the “Lovesick Girls” music video garnered 61.4 million views in the first 24 hours upon release on Oct. 2. This becomes the sixth biggest 24-hour music video debut on YouTube of all time.

This is BLACKPINK’s third personal best for MV debuts, garnering the lowest views among the three music videos they released this year.

“How You Like That” music video garnered 86.3 million views in the first 24 hours after it was released on June 26 and “Ice Cream (with Selena Gomez)” MV, released on Aug. 28, got 79.08 million views in the first 24-hour cycle.

BLACKPINK now have four entries in YouTube’s top 10 ranking for the most viewed music videos in the first 24 hours of release of all time.

“How You Like That” is No. 2 and “Ice Cream (with Selena Gomez)” is No. 3. “Lovesick Girls” is No. 6 and “Kill This Love,” with 56.7 million views, is No. 7.

On Nov. 11, 2019, BLACKPINK’s “DDU-DU DDU-DU” music video reached 1 billion views on YouTube, becoming the first K-pop group to achieve the feat. The music video reached the milestone in just over 16 months since it was uploaded on YouTube on June 15, 2018.

Last Sept. 2, their “Kill This Love” MV reached 1 billion views on YouTube since its release on April 4, 2019.
