Taxi driver converts car compartment into sari-sari store

A taxi driver went viral after converting the compartment of his cab into a mini sari-sari store.

Architect Shiella Marie Atienza, the netizen who uploaded the photo said she was doing a site inspection in Forbeswood, Taguig when she noticed the taxi driver getting stuff at the compartment.

" told me his income in driving the taxi is not enough for his family, he decided to put a mini sari-sari store that will cater his co-taxi drivers during their break time," Atienza told Manila Bulletin.

According to Atienza, the driver sells coffee, biscuits, face shields, and also brings hot water for his coffee products.

"Another way of helping his co-taxi drivers na rin daw para mas mura ang bilihin, hindi sa mga 24-hour store bumibili ng panawid gutom at uhaw (Another way to help his co-taxi drivers, too, because his goods are cheaper compared to 24-hour convenience stores where they usually buy whenever they go hungry or thirsty)," Atienza said.

"He told me that this hard time, we could only help ourselves and really make way for survival," the netizen added.

Hoping to motivate more people, Atienza posted the photo publicly to inspire fellow netizens to be more hardworking and hopeful even amid the global pandemic.

"Hindi naging hadlang pagigig senior nya or yung kakulangan ng kita sa taxi para dagdagan pa ang ikabubuhay nya. Who would have thought that this mobile sari-sari store is possible in the compartment (Even though he's already a senior or he doesn't earn enough money, it did not stop him from thinking of other ways to earn. Who would have thought that this mobile sari-sari store is possible inside a taxi compartment)."
