The World Health Organization received a donation of health commodities to the Department of Health Monday.

Health Secretary Francisco T. Duque III received the donation of personal protective equipment composed of gowns (230,900 pieces), KN95 masks (405,000 pieces), face shields (187,800 pieces), googles (159,540 pieces), and surgical masks (552,000 pieces) at the DoH Central Office in Manila.
The WHO, represented by officer-in-charge and acting Country Representative to the Philippines Dr. Rabindra Abeyasinghe, also handed over 350 units of oxygen concentrators, a medical device used for breathing-related disorders caused by low oxygen concentration in the blood.
Duque thanked WHO for their continued support to the Philippines' COVID-19 response and in managing other pre-COVID pandemics like polio and measles.
“The way to defeat any pandemic is to collectively work and fight against it. With the WHO and other partner organizations, both from the public and private sector, fighting this battle alongside us, we are confident that we can beat this pandemic and we will recover as one,” he said in a statement.
Duque reminded everyone to strictly observe the minimum health standards.
“We must understand that this fight needs cooperation. Each one plays a big role…these health commodities will be useless if we will not take be careful and follow the minimum health standards,” he said.
According to DoH, these health commodities donated by WHO Philippines are part of the humanitarian aid donation for COVID-19 response based on the global allotment of the WHO headquarters. These will be turned over to the Office of Civil Defense tasked with the accounting and distribution of commodities.
