PNP unveils carpark building amid Camp Crame decongestion plan

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has spent almost P154 million for the construction of a multi-level car park building to address the parking problems of its personnel and civilians getting clearances and other documents at Camp Crame in Quezon City.

The project started in 2017, or two years before PNP chief General Camilo Pancratius Cascolan implemented a program that focuses on the logic that the best way to solve parking woes and congestion inside the National Headquarters is to relocate some of the offices out of Camp Crame.
 
For instance, the police clearance which is needed for job application and other transactions will soon be available at some malls in the country while some offices which are not supposed to be at Camp Crame would be relocated to the area where they were supposed to be situated.
 
Among them were the five Directorate for Integrated Police Operations (DIPOs)—Northern Luzon, Southern Luzon, Visayas, Eastern Mindanao and Western Mindanao.
 
PNP spokesman Col. Ysmael Yu said the newly-erected multi-level car park can accommodate up to 462 vehicles and is located at the east perimeter of the Camp Crame, which is near the Santolan-Annapolis station of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT).
 
“The newly-constructed multi-level carpark building that is expected to ease parking problems of police personnel, and civilian clientele while transacting official business at the PNP National Headquarters,” said Yu.
 
He said the P153.71-million project was bankrolled through the PNP Trust Receipts Fund.
 
Yu said a minimal fee will be levied to defray maintenance costs for continuing operation of the carpark.
 
The official said that another five-storey multi-purpose building and carpark project funded by the Department of Public Works and Highways is underway at the northwest corner of the 40-hectare PNP camp with 176 parking slots, 12 function halls, and concessionaire stalls. The ground-breaking ceremony was held last year.
