President Duterte has extended get well soon wishes to United States President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump after they contracted the new coronavirus.

According to Presidential spokesman Harry Roque, the President considers the US leader a close friend and hopes he and his wife will recover soon.
Trump earlier revealed on Twitter that he and his wife tested positive for the coronavirus after his close aide Hope Hicks also tested positive.
"Alam ninyo po malapit na magkaiban ang ating Presidente at si President Trump at ang mensahe ng Presidente (You know the President and President Trump are close friends. The President's message is) he wishes president Trump and his wife First Lady Melania a full and speedy recovery," Roque said during a televised press briefing.
Trump, in a video message posted online over the weekend, said he was feeling much better now. He is currently being treated for coronavirus at a military hospital.
Since the coronavirus lockdown in March, President Duterte has been closely guarded by his security aides amid intensified health and safety protocols.
The public engagements of the 75-year-old Duterte have been significantly reduced to curb the risk of infection. His activities are limited to closed-door meetings with officials who undergo coronavirus testing prior to the assembly as well as occasional trips to military camps under heavy security.
Roque said the President is expend to deliver a public address Monday after a meeting with select Cabinet members on the governments pandemic response. He said the President has stayed in Manila and did not return to his hometown in Davao City last weekend.
