BAGUIO CITY – Clustering of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases continued here with 37 news cases posted on Sunday, October 4.

The City Health Service Office (CHSO) reported that, of the new cases, 28 had exposure to confirmed cases of the coronavirus, seven had symptoms, one was detected due to expanded testing, and another was found positive as a requirement for travel.

CHSO also said there were 18 patients, who were able to recover from the deadly disease on Sunday.

As of 5 p.m., October 4, the city has a total of 1,145 confirmed cases, 546 active, 583 recoveries, and 16 deaths.

CHSO noted that early detection was important not only in preventing transmission of the virus but also in the management of the patient.

City Epidemiologist Donnabel Tubera said early consultation also meant early detection and early administration of treatment, translating to lower risk of mortality.

“Our ultimate target is to have low fatality which is the impact indicator of all the activities that we have been doing,” she said.

As more case clustering in households were recorded, the CHSO again appealed to the public to stick to the health and safety protocols.

"At home: wash your hands and change your clothes before you spend time with your family, disinfect your door knobs and other frequently touched surfaces in the home, and monitor each other for flu-like symptoms and when outside, always wear your masks and shields properly, observe physical distancing, disinfect regularly and avoid crowded and enclosed spaces and close conversations,” Tubera said.
