Fire razed part of a military compound that houses the office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 4.

A report from the Quezon City fire department said the fire occurred in a three-storey building at the compound of the J2 office, reaching the first alarm at 1:53 p.m.
As of 2:04 p.m., it was declared under control by the firefighters.
Maj. Gen. Edgard Arevalo, AFP spokesperson, said that the office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence was not directly affected.
He said the part that was burned was the third floor of the J2 office, which serves as the barracks for enlisted personnel.
An investigation, however, was conducted to determine the cause of the fire and if there were any sensitive documents that were possibly destroyed.
“As of past 2 p.m., it was already fireout. So far we do not have any reported casualty. We have yet to determine the cause of the fire but an investigation was already undertaken,” he told reporters.
“We could not say if there was any because we have to determine the extent of the damage first,” he said.
