Asingan Police Chief Maj. Leonard Zacarias said the suspect, Jubairence Denver Calantot, was caught by the house owner stealing three pots of alocasia harmonica worth P600 per pot, and four pots of caladium Heart of Jesus variety worth P1,500.

“The house owners were on their way home this morning when they allegedly saw the suspect with the plants inside his tricycle. When they entered their front yard, they discovered that some of their plants were missing so they went after the suspect and eventually caught him,” Zacarias said.

He said the suspect admitted he intended to give the plants to the aunt of the woman he was courting.

“The victims will pursue the case. We are preparing now to file the case (theft) against the suspect,” he said.

Zacarias warned the public to secure their valuables, even plants, especially with the holiday months approaching and criminals will use this time as an opportunity to commit crimes against properties.

The suspect is still at the Asingan Police Station as of this posting.
