The 85th Malasakit Center in the country opened inside the National Center for Mental Health (NCHM) in Mandaluyong City on Friday, Mayor Carmelita Abalos said.

The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop for patients, particularly the poor and indigent, seeking medical and financial assistance from concerned government agencies with programs that provide such aid.

These government agencies are the Department of Health (DoH), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth), and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).

“Lubos na nagpapasalamat ang Pamahalaang Lungsod kay Senator Bong Go na naging daan sa pagkakaroon ng bagong medical facility na makatutulong sa mga kabababayan natin (The city government is very grateful to Senator Bong Go who paved the way for a new medical facility that will help our countrymen),” Abalos said on Facebook.

Present during the launching were Mayor Abalos, Senator Bong Go, Presidential Assistant to the Visayas Secretary Michael Lloyd Dino, NCMH Medical Center Chief II Dr. Noel Reyes, Health Sec. Francisco Duque III, and Mandaluyong Congressman Boyet Gonzales.

The Republic Act No. 11463, also known as the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, mandates the creation of Malasakit Centers in all state-run hospitals nationwide.

Last September 25, the 84th Malasakit Center was inaugurated at the President Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Hospital in Iba, Zambales.
