P12-M irrigation facility funded by JICA unveils in Lucena City

LUCENA CITY, Quezon – The National Irrigation Administration in Region IV-A has turned over the P12-M irrigation project funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to four  Irrigators’ Associations (IAs) in this city.

NIA-IV-A regional manager Romeo Lopez said the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) of Irrigators Associations offices were signed by the Alupaye Sitio Tubigan, Dakilang Sulok , Mayao Castillo of Lucena, and Ginintuang Butil ng Sta Teresa Irrigator Associations.

The project is under the National Irrigation Sector Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (NISRIP) headed by Silvino Navarro, Lopez said.

“Isa po itong mahalagang araw para sa ating lahat. Naudlot man po ng ilang beses ang ating turnover ceremony dahil sa pandemyang kinakaharap natin ngayon, sa wakas ay pormal ng maililipat sa ating mga irrigator associations ang pamamahala ng mga Irrigators Association  offices at mga pasilidad na kasama nito,”  said Lopez. 

Lopez highlighted the inter-agency coordination and robust partnership between the Philippines and Japan in supporting agricultural productivity in the country.

He also thanked the farmers and their organizations for trusting the agency in the effort to rehabilitate and improve one of the important irrigation systems in Quezon province.

“Let us use these facilities to further improve our organization. Mas maayos na kayong makakapag-meeting at makakapag imbak ng inyong mga harvests ng hindi nangangamba sa panahon,” Navarro said.
