Fire guts 6 houses, chapel in Mati City


DAVAO CITY - Six families were left homeless after their house and a chapel were gutted in a fire in Mati City on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the initial investigation of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire broke out at a residential area in Purok Masagana 2 in Barangay Matiao around 1 p.m. and reached first alarm before it was declared a fire out at 3:06 p.m.


Three houses and a chapel were totally destroyed while three other houses were partially damaged. 

The burned houses belonged to Epifania Mandaya, Noli Bartolome, Federico Lanos, Jason Beleta, Virgincita Lumangyao, Rommel Bacolod, and Ramonciti Epis.

The BFP is investigating the cause of the fire and the cost of the damaged properties.

The city government of Mati said the fire victims will be initially given food packs and P5,000 worth of financial assistance by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
