Man suspected of being a supplier of illegal firearms nabbed in Pasig buy-bust
A 20-year-old man who was suspected of being a supplier of illegal firearms in Pasig City was nabbed by police in a buy-bust operation Thursday night.
Police Major Darwin Guerrero, Eastern Police District Special Operations Unit (EPD-SOU) chief, said Jam-Jam Julian of Barangay Manggahan, Pasig was also a newly identified high-value target for illegal drugs.
According to Guerrero, they have acted on reports that Julian and his cohort, identified as Edison Bolista, were suppliers of illegal firearms in the city.
Julian was arrested by a team from EPD-SOU on Acacia Street, Barangay Manggahan at around 10 p.m. after reportedly selling a caliber .38 revolver to a police poseur buyer.
After the deal, policemen were about to arrest Julian when he quickly ran towards the house of Bolista, a police report read.
The police then chased after Julian and placed him under arrest.
However, Bolista, who was already escaping through the roof of his house when the cops saw him, successfully evaded the arresting officers.
Cops seized a caliber .38 revolver without serial number, four live bullets of caliber .38 revolver, a 9mm caliber handgun without serial number, a 9mm handgun magazine with five live bullets, and a maroon sling bag from Julian.
Upon searching Bolista’s house, cops recovered 29 sachets of suspected shabu worth about P200,000; and three sachets of suspected dried marijuana leaves worth about P12,000.
Julian, Guerrero bared, was recently released from jail after posting bail for a robbery case.
He added that Julian also has pending case of theft and physical injury.
Julian is now detained facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act” and Republic Act 9165 or the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.” (Jhon Aldrin Casinas)
2 big time drug suppliers arrested in Las Pinas
Members of the Las Pinas City police arrested allegedly two bigtime drug suppliers after a separate search warrant was served against them and confiscated a total of P714,000 worth of shabu, Monday night.
In the first operation conducted by the police, members of the Station Intelligence Section (SIS) served a search warrant against the suspect identified as Rogelio Roxas,43, of Talon Uno, Las Pinas City.
The police said that a search warrant issued by Las Pinas Regional Trial Court Executive JudgeElizabeth Guray, of Branch 202 was implemented against Roxas at about 8:15 p.m. and confiscated about P408,00 worth of shabu placed inside 4 large heat-sealed plastic sachet which is about 60 grams.
The police said that aside from the shabu confiscated from Roxas, they also found a replica of .9mm caliber with magazine loaded with 12 ammunition.
After 45 minutes, the team of SIS again implemented another search warrant against Ramil Espiritu,53, of Mother Earth Subdivision, Barangay Talon Dos Las Pinas City.
Members of the SIS confiscated from Espiritu were 10 small heat-sealed plastic sachet containing shabu worth P306,000 and about 45 grams.
The police said that the suspects were detained at the Las Pinas police custodial facility and charges for violation of illegal drugs was filed against them and illegal possession of firearms was also filed against Roxas. (Jean Fernando)
3 robbers shot dead in QC
Three unidentified robbers were shot dead in an encounter with police in Quezon City early Friday morning.
A report reaching the Quezon City Police District said that Fe Buenaventura, 32 and MJ Arasa, 15, sought assistance from police after they were allegedly robbed at gunpoint while walking somewhere along Obrero St. in Barangay Bagumbayan around 2:45 a.m.
Police said that personnel from Eastwood Police Station, who were then conducting an operation in the area, immediately responded after learning of what happened.
Police ran towards Tawiran Extension, where the robbers were said to have fled. It was then that the three slain men allegedly fired shots at the lawmen, prompting the latter to retaliate.
Recovered from the crime scene were the victims' personal belongings, including an iPhone 8 Plus and P6,400 cash, which were initially carted away.
Police also recovered a revolver, a pistol and 14 fired cartridge case of unknown caliber in the area as pieces of evidence.
Police are still establishing the identities of the three men, who have respective tattoos bearing the words "Telma," "Tribal," "Wini" and "Cobra" in different parts of their body. (Joseph Almer Pedrajas)
Man killed by riding-in-tandem suspects in Mandaluyong
Despite a standing ordinance which regulates motorcycle riding-in-tandem in the city, motorcycle-riding suspects shot to death a 23-year-old man in Mandaluyong City past midnight on Friday.
Eastern Police District director Brig. Gen. Johnson Almazan identified the fatality as Jerick Lucaña.
A 53-year-old witness told probers that one of the suspects described wearing a face mask and a nutshell helmet was walking ahead of Lucaña along Acacia Lane in Barangay Hagdang Bato at around 12:30 a.m.
Upon reaching a bank on that same street, the gunman successively shot Lucaña which resulted to his demise.
After the shooting, the gunman quickly boarded a motorcycle driven by his cohort, who was described by the witness wearing a black t-shirt and a helmet, towards an undetermined direction.
Probers recovered three fired cartridge cases of undetermined caliber of firearm from the crime scene.
According to a report sent by Almazan through a text message, Lucaña was a newly-identified drug personality included in the drug watchlist of Barangay Addition Hills, Mandaluyong City.
Authorities are still conducting a follow-up investigation to determine the identities of the suspect and for their arrest.
In 2014, the local government of Mandaluyong City enacted City Ordinance No. 550 and which both banned men riding-in-tandem on motorcycle along the city’s streets “unless they are within the first degree of consanguinity” of the driver.
According to the city government, the ordinance seeks to prevent crimes and violence perpetrated by criminals riding-in-tandem. (Jhon Aldrin Casinas)
