The trough or extension of a low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) may bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the extreme portion of Northern Luzon in the next 24 hours.
In its 5 p.m. weather bulletin issued on Wednesday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Batanes, Cagayan, and Babuyan Islands will be cloudy and may be affected by scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
The LPA has formed outside the PAR on Wednesday afternoon.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon or "habagat" will still prevail although its effect will be slightly weaker than the past couple of days.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with some isolated afternoon or evening rain showers due to localized thunderstorms and the "habagat."
The occurrence of severe thunderstorms may trigger flash floods or landslides over areas that are at high-risk to these hazards.
PAGASA advised the public to remain alert in the event of severe thunderstorms mostly happening in the afternoon or evening.
Moderate to rough sea conditions are expected over the waters of extreme Northern Luzon, while slight to moderate seas will prevail across the rest of the country's seaboards.
The State weather bureau, however, has not issued a gale warning thus seafarers and fisherfolk are safe to sail but are still advised to observe caution when venturing out to sea.
Based on the PAGASA's historical climate data, an average of two to three tropical cyclones usually enter or form within the PAR in October.
