Vatican appoints new apostolic nuncio to the PH

Pope Francis has appointed Archbishop Charles John Brown as the new Apostolic Nuncio to Philippines.

Caloocan Bishop Pablo David, acting president of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, said the appointment of Brown was made public in Rome today, September 28.

"The Diocese of Kalookan welcomes the appointment of the new Nuncio to the Philippines," he said.

In a Facebook post, David said Abp. Brown was born in New York, USA on October 13, 1959 and was ordained priest for the Archdiocese of New York on May 13, 1989.  

From 1994, he was an official of the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith in the Vatican. 

Consecrated Archbishop on January 6, 2012, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Ireland on November 26, 2011 and Apostolic Nuncio to Albania on March 9, 2017. 

Brown replaced Archbishop Gabriele Caccia who was appointed as the Holy Father’s Permanent Observer to the United Nations in New York in November 2019.
