9,574 more Filipinos abroad repatriated -- DFA


The Philippine government has brought home an additional 9,574 overseas Filipinos this week, bringing the total number of repatriated Filipinos to 195,224 since February 2020, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Sunday.

Of the total, 67,484 (34.6%) are sea-based while 127,740 (65.4%) are land-based.Two DFA-chartered flights from Saudi Arabia brought home 711 overseas Filipinos this week, including Rose Policarpio whose acquittal from murder charges was secured through government assistance.
 
On Saturday, an additional 317 Filipinos repatriates, including 12 children were welcomed from Lebanon. They joined the DFA-chartered Philippine Airlines turnaround flight that also brought 5,000 boxes of relief goods for the Filipino community in Lebanon and medical supplies for Lebanese beneficiaries.
 
The DFA assured that it remains fully committed to its Assistance-to-Nationals mandate and its daily repatriation efforts during this ongoing fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
