Quezon-Bicol Expressway to spur progress, development in Southern Luzon

QUEZON – The planned construction of the Quezon-Bicol Expressway (QuBEx) project, under the Duterte's administration Build, Build, Build program, will be a huge help in spurring trade and development in Southern Luzon.

This was the assessment made by Quezon third district Rep. Aleta Suarez, who underscored that the proposed four-lane project will have a total length of 420 kilometers, stretching from the South Luzon Expressway-Toll Road 4 (SLEX-TR4) project in Barangay Mayao, Lucena City and ending at in Matnog, Sorsogon at the Matnog Ferry Terminal.

The project has been divided into eight segments, namely, the Lucena-Gumaca with a length of 61 kilometers; Gumaca-Tagkawayan, 58.60 kilometers; Tagkawayan-Sipocot, 61.40 kilometers; Sipocot-Naga City; Naga City-Polangui, 45.90 kilometers; Polangui-Legaspi City, 33.60 kilometers; Legaspi City-Sorsogon, 57.70 kilometers; Sorsogon- Matnog, 62.30 kilometers.

The project is being proposed under joint House Bill 6475 that was filed by Suarez and Masbate third district Rep. Scott Davies Lanete. It has been endorsed by the House Committee on Southern Tagalog Development to the plenary.

According to Suarez, when implemented, the Quezon-Bicol Expressway will bring order and prosperity to the agriculture, tourism, and business sectors, among others, in areas south of Quezon, including the Bicol region and parts of Eastern Visayas.
