Hand-washing stations installed at Pasig Mega Market
The Pasig City government has installed two hand-washing stations at key areas of Pasig City Mega Market on Friday, Mayor Vico Sotto said.
Sotto said the hand-washing stations, donated by Hygienix Philippines, were located at the main entrance and at the food court of the city’s main public market.
To prevent people from touching the faucet and soap dispenser, the local government said the hand-washing stations are foot operated.
“Aside from wearing face masks and face shields and keeping a distance of one meter, what we should also do during this pandemic is to wash our hands often,” the local government said.
“Now that the threat of COVID-19 is far from over, let us remain vigilant and always be careful,” it added.
Sotto also reminded the public to strictly observe the minimum health standards and safety protocols to healthy amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The mayor urged residents to wear face masks and face shields, especially when they are within indoor public areas.
He also encouraged everyone to always practice social distancing and good hygiene to remain safe and strong and prevent themselves from contracting COVID-19.
As of September 23, Pasig City recorded a total of 6,248 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the start of the outbreak in the country. Of the total number, 790 are considered as active cases, 5,190 patients have already recovered, while 268 people have died.
“We urge you to be vigilant and stay at home,” the city government said.
As part of the city’s response against the dreaded disease, the local government has built its own molecular laboratory capable of conducting the “gold standard” reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests or swab tests for COVID-19.
Pasig City has also provided its residents with free enhanced chemiluminescence immunoassay (ECLIA) tests, a type of antibody test that uses blood samples to determine if a patient has been exposed to the virus and if they have developed antibodies against it.
